The Meridian Museum of Art celebrated 33 years of dedication to local art and artists Thursday night at the museum's membership gala, "A Winter Wonderland."
Terry Heder, the museum's director, said the museum has more than 600 members, and many of them came out to support Meridian's art and its artists.
The event also honored the museum's volunteer of the year, local attorney Bob Bresnahan. Heder said Bresnahan, president of MMA's board, is a vital part of the museum's success.
Bresnahan said he does whatever Heder needs him to do and enjoys his work with the museum.
Among the featured artists at the event was local plumber-turned-artist, Kurt Schroeder. Schroeder's photo of a rainbow was one of the many pieces on display at the museum.
Schroeder said he caught a glimpse of the double rainbow in his photo while hunting on New Year's Eve 2002 in Suqualena. He said he didn't have much success with the deer but he's had a lot of success with the photo.
Anne Dowdle of Meridian said she was impressed by the artwork on display at the museum.
Ann Blackledge of Meridian said she spotted several pieces she would like to buy while mingling at the event.
