Meridian firefighters found the body of a man in his home Sunday at about 2 a.m. when they responded to a fire at 411 39th Ave.
The body of Lamar Edwards, 51, will probably be sent to Jackson for autopsy tonight, according to Lauderdale County Deputy Coroner Clayton Cobler. The Meridian Fire Department is investigating the fire one of three that happened late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
Cobler said the cause of death is unknown. Meridian Fire Chief Tim Miller said firefighters found Edwards' body at the north end of the home, away from the bulk of the blaze near the south end of the house.
Miller said his department is also investigating a fire in a vacant house on 36th Avenue. The chief said the structure was "fully involved" when firefighters responded about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Miller said firefighters also responded to a house fire on 44th Avenue. It was determined to be accidental.
