Alison Krauss and Union Station in concert

CHOCTAW Pearl River Resort will host "An Evening with Alison Krauss and Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas" on Saturday at the Silver Star Convention Center. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Krauss and Union Station are not only one of bluegrass's premier acts, they have successfully crossed over to audiences in pop, country and beyond while maintaining their grassroots credibility. Krauss has received many accolades, including several Grammy Awards and was named Country Music Association's Female Vocalist of the Year and awarded the Horizon Award Single of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year, all in 1995.
Union Station, a band of stars in their own right, will join Krauss.
Bassist and harmony vocalist, Barry Bales; banjo and guitar, Ron Block; acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmony vocalist, Dan Tyminski and Dobro great, Jerry Douglas, make up Union Station. Douglas, one of the most recorded Dobro players in history, produced the acclaimed Jesse Winchester album Gentleman of Leisure.
Bales has worked on numerous projects as a sideman, including recordings with Dolly Parton, Jim Mills, Jeff White and the star-studded Knee Deep in Bluegrass: The Acutab Sessions collection.
Tyminski recently released his debut solo album "Carry Me Across the Mountain," as well as provided the singing voice for George Clooney in the blockbuster hit film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"
Nominations for the 46th Annual Grammy Awards were recently announced by the Recording Academy. Alison Krauss and Union Station received a nomination for Best Bluegrass Album for" LIVE" and a nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance for "Cluck Old Hen."
Alison Krauss and James Taylor received a Grammy nomination for their collaboration on "How's The World Treating You."
The 46th Granny Awards will be presented Feb. 8, 2004 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Tickets may be purchased by visiting the Pearl River Resort Box Office or by calling 1-866-44PEARL. Doors open at 7 p.m. the night of the concert. Tickets are non-refundable and the Silver Star Convention Center is a non-smoking facility.
Pearl River Resort, on Highway 16 West in Choctaw, is a development of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
