Two children were killed Sunday afternoon when the vehicle they were riding in left Interstate 59 and flipped over several times.
Lauderdale County Deputy Coroner Clayton Cobler said Tiffiney Holifield, believed to be 8 years old, and Whitney Shumock, believed to be 13 years old, died at the scene.
Cobler was not sure where the family lived.
Information on the investigation of the accident was not available this morning from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Cobler said the vehicle was traveling south. He said the accident happened near the 145 mile marker at about 2:10 p.m.
Cobler said the mother of the children was transported to University Medical Center in Jackson with serious injuries.
