The Commission on School Accreditation has withdrawn Meridian High School's Level 2, or "under-performing," accreditation level for the current school year.
Principal R.D. Harris asked the board to withdraw the accreditation level because it was based on 99 students, or 8 percent of MHS students, who took Biology I in the 2002-2003 school year.
Harris said those students don't fully represent what is happening at Meridian High. Accreditation levels for high school are normally based on scores from subject area testing in Algebra I, English II, U.S. History and Biology I.
Meridian High School will not receive its first official accreditation level until the 2004-2005 school year.
