    Lamar rolls past Heritage on road, 43-0

    Lamar routed Heritage Academy 43-0 Friday night at Columbus to improve to 6-1. The Raiders were as dangerous when Heritage had the ball as they were when they were in possession, scoring three defensive touchdowns on interception returns.
    The Raiders got their first score with 8:24 remaining in the first quarter on a 25-yard pass from Drew Moffett to Randy Boyd Thompson.
    Lamar struck again with 10:34 to go in the second quarter on a 16-yard interception return by Thompson. Moffett teamed with Zeb Swain for a two-point conversion and a 15-0 halftime lead.
    The Raiders got a 12-yard interception return by Travis Raley in the third quarter to go up 22-0.
    In the fourth quarter, Lamar got a 44-yard touchdown run from Thompson, a 24-yard interception return by Swain, and a 5-yard scoring run from Dylan Anderson.
    Neshoba Central 20
    Ridgeland 10
    The Rockets took a big step toward a playoff berth by knocking off the Titans at Philadelphia.
    Neshoba evened its Division 4-4A record at 2-2 and improved to 3-4 overall. Trailing 10-7 through three quarters, Neshoba scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the win.
    Ridgeland led 3-0 at halftime on a 23-yard field goal by Jay Roberts in the second quarter. Both teams got a touchdown in the third quarter with Ridgeland scoring on a 4-yard run by Keith Whitfield and Neshoba scoring on a 2-yard run by Kevin Marshall.
    In the fourth quarter, Marshall gave the Rockets a 13-10 lead with a 1-yard run and Jason Yarbrough added the clincher with a 15-yard fumble return. Kyle Vowell kicked two extra points.
    Vowell had 54 yards on 10 carries, while Yarbrough had 54 yards on 18 rushes.
    Newton County Academy 36
    University Christian 20
    The Generals upped their record to 5-3 with a win over the 1-7 Flames at Flowood.
    John Shellenback ran for one touchdown and threw for two others for NCA.
    After a scoreless first quarter, the teams erupted for 42 points in the second quarter as NCA took a 22-20 lead into the break.
    Shellenback got the first touchdown on a 2-yard run and then connected with Daniel Grimes for a two-point conversion.
    Following a UCS score, Sam Thames returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. A two-point try failed.
    Shellenback teamed with Dustin McGowan on a 31-yard touchdown pass late in the second period. Lee Blackburn added a two-point run.
    In the third quarter, Shellenback connected with Grimes on a 17-yard scoring pass.
    The Generals got their last touchdown on a 6-yard run by McGowan in the fourth quarter. Shellenback completed another two-point pass to Grimes.
    Heidelberg Academy 42
    Oak Hill Academy 0
    A week after attempting only three passes in a win over Wayne Academy, the Rebels threw six touchdown passes in the blowout of the West Point crew.
    Brooks Lewis threw five touchdown passes. He completed scoring tosses of 20 yards to Will Thames, 16 yards to Derek Griffin, and 13 yards to Wesley Parker in the first quarter as Heidelberg, 6-2, built an early 21-0 lead.
    In the third quarter, Lewis connected with Chris Kittrell on a 6-yard scoring toss and with Dusty Bass on a 50-yard bomb.
    Ian Sharp teamed with J.R. Stephenson on a 5-yard pass for the Rebels' final touchdown. Ryan Aultman was 6-of-6 in extra points.
    Union 15
    Sebastopol 14
    The Yellowjackets rallied from a 14-2 halftime deficit to knock off Sebastopol in Region 3-1A play at Union.
    The Bobcats held a 14-2 lead thanks to a 20-yard run from Antoine Brown and a fumble recovery in the end zone by Justin Hunter. Danny Graham added a two-point run following Hunter's score.
    Union recorded a second quarter safety.
    The Jackets rallied to within 14-9 in the third period on a 1-yard run by Jacob Casey. Sean Ferrell added the PAT.
    Union took the lead in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run by Nickos Harris. A two-point attempt failed.
    Union improved to 4-3, Sebastopol fell to 0-6.
    Louisville 42
    Tuscaloosa Northridge 7
    The Wildcats kept the Jaguars winless in their first year as a school with a 21-point first quarter effectively settling the issue at Louisville.
    Ken Coleman put Louisville on the scoreboard with a 53-yard run in the opening period. Josh Black booted the first of his four extra points.
    Before the first quarter expired, Louisville added a 2-yard scoring run from Barry Doss and a 16-yard touchdown toss from Doss to Rod Ingram.
    Chris Perry got loose for a 53-yard touchdown run in the second quarter with Coleman adding a two-point conversion for a 29-0 lead.
    Northridge got its only touchdown of the night on a 14-yard pass play.
    Louisville added a 5-yard touchdown run from Brandon Dotson in the third quarter and a 17-yard scoring pass from Doss to Antoine Triplett in the fourth quarter.
    Doss had 12 carries for 75 yards and completed 7-of-14 passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
    Starkville Academy 31
    Winston Academy 17
    The homestanding Volunteers scored 21 first half points to even their record at 3-3.
    Long plays led the Vols to the win. Brad Scarbrough scored on a 62-yard run and Josh Morgan added a 54-yard pass from Jason Coats.
    Winston, 2-6, got a 31-yard field goal from Paul McMillin, a 4-yard run from Patrick Woodward, and a 14-yard pass from Patrick Peterson to Trenton Cockrell.
    The Vols also got an 8-yard run from Chad Fulgham, a 1-yard run from Morgan, and a 44-yard field goal from Coats.
    Sylva-Bay Academy 19
    Presbyterian Christian 7
    Cody Phillips scored on runs of 6, 1, and 16, yards to lead the Saints as they improved to 7-1 with the non-conference win.
    Tied 7-7 through three quarters, Phillips tallied twice in the fourth quarter.
    Presbyterian Christian's lone touchdown came on a 27-yard run by Chase Herrin.
