PHILADELPHIA Services for Fannie Ruth Watkins Cook will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jackie Barker officiating. Burial will be in Cooks Chapel Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Cook, 82, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, James Cook of Philadelphia; two sons, Glyn Cook of Philadelphia and Pete Cook of Gautier; a brother, Arlie Watkins of Camden, Ala.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Charles Cook.
Retired
Services for Earl Dewitt Vick will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at West Kemper Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Jones and Dr. Malcolm Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vick, 67, of DeKalb, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from U.S. Motors in Philadelphia.
Mr. Vick was a member of West Kemper Baptist Church, Small Producers Beef Cattle Marketing Group, the Kemper County Cattlemans Association and served on the board of directors.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Vick of DeKalb; daughters, Debora Vandevender and her husband, Joe, of DeKalb and Tammy Smith and her husband, Ted, of Clinton; a son, Tony D. Vick and his wife, Shea, of meridian; grandsons, Ben and Will Vandevender of DeKalb and Don Hartness III and Hunter Hartness of Clinton; a granddaughter, Karlee Vick of Meridian; one step grandson, Zack Smith of Clinton; a step granddaughter, Mallye Smith of Clinton; sisters, Earlene Taylor and her husband, Lamar, and Chyrel Francis and her husband, Leroy, all of Meridian; brothers, Mose "Bub" Vick and his wife, Dot, and Elwood Vick and his wife, Bobbie, all of Meridian, and Charles Vick and his wife, Wanda, of DeKalb.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ben Vandevender, Will Vandevender and Don Hartness III; and his nephews, Bruce Mitchell, Greg Mitchell, Jimmy Wall, Todd Vick and Devlyn Vick.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Painter
Services for D.D. Hawkins will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Keith Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hawkins, 70, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hawkins; a daughter, Debbie Miles and her husband, Danny; three sons, Butch Hawkins and his wife, Sue, Kendall Hawkins and his wife, Susan, and Randy Hawkins, all of Meridian; eight granddaughters, Dr. Stephanie Miles, Danielle Miles, Michelle Quigley and her husband, Philip, Angella Hawkins, Jessica Hawkins, Abby Hawkins, Melissa McMurray and her husband, Pete, and Samantha Hawkins; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Kathryn Quigley and Seth McMurray; a brother, Ed Hawkins and his wife, Wilda, of Mobile, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestra and Marcus Hawkins; and two brothers, Raymond Hawkins and Hap Hawkins.
The family requests memorials be made to Midway Baptist Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be Alton Parten, Les Carr, J.D. Webb, Jim Thompson, Jack Killen and Terry White.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Midway Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Tuesday 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral mass for Glenda Ann Johnston Battaglia will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will be in Southern Memorial Park with Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Battaglia, 65, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, in Russellville, Ala. She was born in New Orleans and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanine Battaglia of Biloxi; sons, Ivan Cobb and wife, Laurie, of Meridian, Louis F. Cobb Jr. and wife, Noreen, of Biloxi, Bryant E. Cobb of Biloxi, Chuck S. Battaglia and wife, Sharron, of Gulfport, Daniel J. Battaglia and wife, Donna, of Lockport, La., Anthony M. Battaglia and wife, Dayna, of Slidell, La.; sisters, Carol Cline and husband, Jim, of Des Moines, Iowa, Donna Thatcher and husband, Dennis, of Lumberton, Texas; a brother, Thomas Johnston Jr. and wife, Janet, of Kiln; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Battaglia Jr.; parents, Thomas and Geneva Johnston.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, on Wednesday at Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home.
Friends may also visit one hour prior to mass.
Architect
Services for Richard Batte McMullan will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at The Church of the Mediator with the Rev. Mike Dobrosky officiating. Burial will be in the columbarium at the church with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McMullan, 59, of Meridian, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, in his home.
The family requests memorials be made to Church of the Mediator or A.L.S. Foundation.
Visitation will be Thursday 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in the church parish hall.
Memorial services for Retha Smith will be held at a later date. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Smith, 57, of meridian, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Clifton Lavone Peacock Jr. of Louisiana, Troy Wyres of California and John Wyres Jr. of Collinsville, Ala.; a daughter, Joy Brady of Louisiana; sisters, Alice Robinson of Meridian, Jane Labatte and Fay, both of Louisiana; and a brother, Columbus Smith of Meridian.

CARROLLTON, Ga. Services for Eugenia Ann Sims Parr were held Monday at Holy Ground Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Runels officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin-Hightower Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Parr, 39, of Carrollton, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003. She was born in Kemper County, Miss., on Jan. 14, 1964.
Survivors include her husband, Gregory H. Parr of Carrollton; children, Jessica Leigh Ann Parr of Carrollton and Christopher Daniel Creighton of Meridian, Miss.; her parents, Irvin Eugene Sims and Jessie Ann Sims of Meridian; and several aunts, uncles and one grandchild.
Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Perry M. Shirley, 62, of Lauderdale County, who died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, in Lauderdale County.
