Erin Brown and Lloyd Hooper were recently named to the Dean's List for the 2003 spring semester at Birmingham Southern College.
Adam Stephenson Mitchell of Meridian has been named to the dean's list at Louisiana State University for the spring 2003 semester. To be named on the dean's list, students must earn grade-point averages of 3.5 to 3.9.
Meridian native Jamie Frazier, of Hilton Head, S.C. was selected to attend the Nation Young Leaders Conference June 16-26 in Washington.
The conference was a development program for high school students who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Frazier was among 400 outstanding national scholars from around the country who attended the conference.
Highlights of the program included welcoming remarks from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives and a panel discussion with prominent journalists at the National Press Club. Frazier met with senators and a representative or an appointed member of their staff to discuss important issues facing the nation.
Frazier lives with her mother and step-father, Renee and Steven Wright. Frazier attends Hilton Head High School and participates in one of the nation's top choirs directed by Larry Mercer.
Frazier is in the upper portion of her class and has received awards for mathematics.
Sarah Ramage, a 2003 graduate of Southeast High School will receive a $1,500 scholarship from USA Funds, the nation's largest education loan guarantor. These funds will help Ramage pursue a degree in dental hygiene at Meridian Community College.
The United States Achievement Academy announced that Dee Hodges of DeKalb has been named an All-American Scholar. She is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School.
Hodges was nominated for this national award by Faye Kinard. She will appear in the All-American Scholar yearbook, which is published nationally. The academy also announced that Hodges has been named a United States National Award Winner in history and government. She was nominated by Richard Zeagler, a teacher at West Lauderdale.
Hodges is the daughter of Judi Clay of DeKalb. Her grandparents are Norman and Edna Ishie of Bailey.
Two Meridian Community College students have received the William and Dorothy Lerner scholarships for the fall and spring semesters. They are Allison Tremmell and Kewon Singleton. These $1,000 awards are funded through the MCC Foundation from an endowment established by Wendy Lerner of Marietta, Ga.
An honor graduate of Northeast Lauderdale, Trammell is a sophomore in the university transfer program. She plans to pursue a degree in business. A president's list scholar, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students. Trammell works part time and is a volunteers in the nursery at her church.
Singleton is a 2002 graduate of Noxubee County High School in Macon. He is in the computer programming technology program and plans to work toward a bachelor's degree in computer science. He is a dean's list student and a member of Phi Beta Lambda. Singleton works full time and is a junior deacon at his church.
