The Federal Emergency Management Agency has changed its operation of an area disaster relief center from the city's municipal complex to Meridian's Central Fire Station at 2500 14th St.
Anyone seeking federal disaster assistance because of damages sustained from storms April 6-14, must call the toll free telephone number, 1-800-621-FEMA to apply.
While low-interest loans are available from the U.S. Small Business Administration for business owners, non-profit organizations, homeowners and renters, Douglas Maddox, community relations field officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency, stressed Thursday that many area homeowners and renters will qualify for disaster assistance through FEMA grants rather than loans.
