Crossing the bridge toward racial reconciliation

By Staff
April 6, 2003
Mission Meridian, a chapter of Mission Mississippi the statewide organization that promotes racial reconciliation through religious healing is making good strides toward improving communication between people who ought to already share the same hopes and dreams.
All of us should hope and pray for more understanding of each other, of how our different perspectives on everyday life actually strengthen our state and nation. We should thank God and our country's Founding Fathers for the Constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
We already stand on common ground. But the journey toward racial conciliation must cross many bridges. One of those bridges is being built by Mission Meridian, which is bringing together people of different races and cultures under the banner of Christianity.
The organization, open to anyone, is performing a valuable public service, using religion as the great common denominator to bridge the racial divide.
We would encourage any local resident who believes racial relations can improve, and who genuinely wants to work personally to make it happen, to explore the benefits of participating in Mission Meridian and Mission Mississippi.
