Services for R.A. "Bob" Brewer will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Highland Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Carl White officiating. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens in Memphis, Tenn., on Monday at 2 p.m. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brewer, 77, of Meridian, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Burns &Burns Oil Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Hamasa Patrol Unit and past potentate, a lifetime member of VFW and a member of The Coffee Club.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Jennings Brewer of Meridian; his children, Debbie Glenn of Byram, Martha Harris and her husband, Sonny, of Newton, Mark Brewer of Huntington, W.V., and Susan Stigler and her husband, Glenn, of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dan Glenn and his wife, Nicki, Doug Glenn and his wife, Allison, Darla Byrd and her husband, Chris, Rene Phillips and her husband, Mike, Libby Wansley and her husband, David, Hannah Brewer, Andrew Brewer, Jonathan Stigler and Jared Stigler; a great-grandchild, Katie Wansley; four brothers, John Brewer and his wife, Betty of Mt. Olive, Richard Brewer and his wife, Fran, of Louisville, Bertram Brewer and his wife, Ruth, of Ville Platte, La., and Gerald Brewer and his wife, Nancy, of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Artee Brewer Sr., and Velma Woolsey Brewer.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Harvesters Sunday School Class.
The family requests memorials be made to the Highland Baptist Church Building Fund, or to a charity of choice.
Services for Thomas Lavell Ford will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Toomsuba Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben James and Bill Boren officiating. Burial will be in the Toomsuba Baptist Church Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Ford, 82, of Toomsuba, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a retired member of the fire department at Naval Air Station Meridian. He also was a member of the Toomsuba Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served from 1941-1945.
Survivors include his wife, Faye B. Ford of Toomsuba; a daughter, Jo Carol Coulliette and her husband, James, of Toomsuba; two grandchildren, Ken Coulliette and Carla Egbert and her husband, Greg, all of Toomsuba; a brother, Lamar Ford and his wife, Alberta, of Meridian; a sister, Manie Matthews of Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Lottie Ford of Vimville community; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas U. and Allie Ford; three brothers, Curtis U. Ford, W.H. Ford and Gilder Ford; and a sister, Gladys Butler.
Active pallbearers will be Tommy Snell, Ray Butler, Tommy Swain, Bobby Barrett, Everett Butler, and Greg Egbert.
Honorary pallbearers will be retired firemen of NAS Meridian.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
Services for June Ammons Hatcher will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Clarence Roberts and David Woods officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hatcher, 79, of Meridian, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was a retired bookkeeper for Hardins Bakery. She also was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon, and she was a member of the B&PW Club and Ruby Bridge Club.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Jamie L. Hatcher of Meridian; a son, Warren Hatcher and his wife, Tricia, of Tucson, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Melanie Hatcher Randle and her husband, Eric, of Oxford and Angela Hatcher of Tucson; and two nieces, Pat Ammons of Clarksdale and Karen Ammons of St. Louis.
Pallbearers will be Joe Swain, Harold Midget, Roy Gibbens, Alan Goldner, Bob Sanders and Harvey Scott. Alternate pallbearers are Dr. Ed Scott and Bill White.
The family requests memorials be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Meridian.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. -8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside services for Alton Ray King will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. King, 38, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Meridian.
Visitation will be Monday from noon-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services for Willard R. Pickett will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Devoe Cemetery.
Mr. Pickett, 84, of Petal, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Forest General Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda Pickett of Petal; four sons, Ray Pickett and his wife, Betty, and Toby Pickett all of Texas City, Texas and Ronnie Pickett and his wife, Jan, and Paul Pickett and his wife, Diane, all of Meridian; two stepsons, Robert Pearce and Mark Pearce and his wife, Jeanie, all of Petal; a daughter, Judi Peavey and her husband, Bob, of Birmingham, Ala.; and a stepdaughter, Laura Humphrey and her husband, Gary, of Seminary; 12 grandchildren, Tim Pickett, Bryan Creel, Lance Pickett, Clayton Creel, Alex Pickett, Daniel Pickett, Mandy Pickett, Jaime Pickett, Adam Pickett, Austin Pickett, Matthew Humphrey and Samuel Humphrey; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathan and Mary Pickett; and two brothers, Arnold Pickett and M.F. "Bill" Pickett.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:30 p.m. -8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at Webb Funeral Home.
