Meridian's highly anticipated search for a new school superintendent will take a step forward today when two groups appointed by the school board begin meeting on the issue.
The two groups composed of teachers, administrators and community leaders will help guide the search for a successor to outgoing Superintendent Janet McLin.
Members will meet today to get acquainted and set a regular meeting schedule.
Robert Markham, co-chairman of the group called "What Works" which will determine what does and doesn't work in the school system said today's meeting will be "a brainstorming session,"
Ed Lynch, co-chairman of the group called "New Expectations," said the goal of his group is to decide what qualities will define an outstanding school district superintendent.
Also on the agenda for the New Expectations group is a short video. Plus, Fred Wile, president of the Meridian School Board, is expected to present school district test scores.
The meetings are open to the public.
