Warriors whip Forest for title

FOREST The Choctaw Central Warriors routed host Forest 97-74 Saturday night in the boys' championship game of the Central Mississippi Classic.
The Warriors got 12 points from Shaun Dougherty and eight from Deon Lewis in the opening period as they jumped out to a 25-19 lead. A 19-12 advantage in the second quarter sent the Warriors into halftime with a 44-31 lead.
Forest, which scored 53 and 51 points in the second halves of its first two games of the tournament, managed only 43 against the Warriors who put up 53 points to turn the contest into a blowout.
Dougherty finished with a game-high 27 points as Choctaw Central improved to 13-3. He connected on three 3-point baskets. Lewis added 19 points. Roderick Anderson tossed in 15 and Sean Ahshapanek had 12. Beasley Willis also hit three 3-pointers as he finished with 10 points.
Jacques Jones led Forest, 10-6, with 21 points. Michael Townsend scored 14 and Josh Graham added nine.
