Alawine, Dean, Ramarkrishnan take ping pong tourney wins

Deana Alawine came away with the Division I first-place trophy in the MTTC Tournament held in the Old Kress Building earlier this month.
Alawine was one of 15 competitors to take part in the table tennis event held under the direction of James Hearn. Four players from Hattiesburg took part in the event, as well as one from the South Mississippi town of Columbia.
The event was held to raise money for Girl Scouts Troop #202 and was directed by Hearn and Jerome Harvey.
Hearn also thanked the sponsors of the event: Lauderdale County Farm Supply, 1st Mississippi Federal Credit Union, FoodMax on North Hills Street, the Tax Center, Winn Dixie near MCC, Montana's Restaurant, Lucky's Sport, Sonic Drive-In on 8th Street, and Hearn &Hearn Yard Service.
Taking second in Division 1 was Dot Fortenberry, while Derrick Smith was third.
Deanthony Dean won first in Division II, while Brandon Grace was second and Paris Hearn was third.
Narasimhan Tiger' Ramarkrishnan was first in Division III, while Kenny Thai was second and Tianxiang Qiao was third.
Hearn said he hoped to begin both city and church ping-pong leagues in the near future.
