NEWTON Graveside services for Evelyn Castle Flake will be held today at 1 p.m. at Newton Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Campbell officiating. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Flake, 86, of Marks, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a homemaker and a secretary for the U.S. Navy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marks.
Survivors include her husband, Charles N. Flake of Marks; a daughter, Pamela Johnson of Long Beach; a son, David Auter of Wichita, Kan.; five stepdaughters, Donna Regel of Bartlett, Tenn., Peggie Roberts of Mobile, Ala., Sandra Irby of Gulfport, Susan Schmitt of Germantown, Tenn., and Judy Flake of Jackson; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Tempie Sharp Castle.
Visitation will be today 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
FRANK THOMAS DONALD
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Frank Thomas Donald will be held today at 2 p.m. at Donald Assembly of God with the Rev. Michael Boutwell and Brent Boutwell officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Phillips Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Donald, 65, of Melvin, Ala., died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, in Melvin.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Ann McInnis Donald and a daughter, Jennifer Donald, both of Melvin; brothers, Thomas Donald and Roy Donald, both of Mathersville; sisters, Wilma Doggett of Silas, Lavone Waite of Millry, Carlene Graham of Waynesboro, Mildred Broadhead of Toxey, Doris Clark of Needham, Shirley Elmore and Charlotte Diamond, both of Butler; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Donald and Jeffery Donald.
EVA MARIE SMITH CULPEPPER

GREENVILLE Graveside services for Eva Marie Smith Culpepper will be held today at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. Boone-Wells Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Culpepper, 91, of Greenville, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Mississippi Care Center in Greenville. She was born in Meridian where she graduated from high school. She married Curtis Culpepper and made their home in Meridian. Mr. Culpepper preceded her in death in 1974. She had lived in Greenville since 1994.
Mrs. Culpepper was a member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church in Meridian.
Survivors include her son, Everette T. Culpepper of Greenville; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
STANLEY NEIL LYLES

Services for Stanley Neil "Sam" Lyles will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bob Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Lyles, 47, of Meridian, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002, in his home. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity and former supervisor at Hardens and Earthgrains Bakery.
Survivors include his mother, Katherine Lyles of Meridian; three sisters, Rita Newell and her husband, Jerry, of Hoover, Ala., Robbie Shehane and her husband, Don, of Meridian and Judy Grayson and her husband, Ralph, of Meridian; a brother, James "Jim" Lyles Jr. and his wife, Rhonda, of Grenada; four nephews, Scott Newell, Jay Grayson, Lyle Shehane and Clay Grayson; three nieces, Toni Grayson, Robin Shehane and Jenifer Lyles; a great-niece, Bailey Newell; and a great-nephew, Casey Newell.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Lee Lyles Sr.
Pallbearers will be his Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity brothers, and Jody Bryant.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
MARLAND RIDDELL SMITH
Services for Marland Riddell "Smitty" Smith will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Watervalley Holiness Church in Whynot with the Revs. Leslie Roberts and Jerry Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Jackson County Funeral Services of Escatawpa and Barham Funeral Home of Meridian is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 67, of Lucedale, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Lucedale.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Smith of Lucedale; two sons, Ronnie Dell Smith and his wife, Tammy, of Meridian, Marland D. Smith and his wife, Lylene, of Pascagoula; four daughters, Faye Goff of Escatawpa, Deborah Tidwell and her husband, Brian, of Toomsuba, Cathy Epps and her husband, David, of Pascagoula and Angel Dodson of Pascagoula; a brother, Royce Donnell Smith and his wife, Sheila, of Jackson; grandsons, B.J. Tidwell, Chris Tidwell and Josh Tidwell, all of Toomsuba, Chris Butler, Dan Butler and Clayton Butler, all of Meridian, Shannon Smith, Brandon Smith, Matthew Smith, Blake Smith, Jeremy Dunbar and Jason Epps, all of Pascagoula; granddaughters, Neicey Malone Tabor of Escatawpa, Alisha Smith, Brittney Smith, Crystal Dodson and Destini Dodson, all of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Candi Malone, Cameron Malone and Andrew Malone, all of Pascagoula, Brock Tidwell, Cade Tidwell and Kayleigh Tidwell, all of Toomsuba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie D. Smith and Nettie Moffett Smith; two sisters and a brother.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home.
WALTER CLYDE DEAN
Services for Walter Clyde Dean will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John Primitive Baptist Church in Porterville with the Rev. Greg Watkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dean, 70, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in Kosciusko.
Survivors include his son, Willie James Dean of St. Louis; a daughter, Bernice Grant of Jackson; a sister, Annie V. Tucker and her husband, William, of St. Louis; brothers, Johnny Dean and his wife, Bertha, of St. Louis, Curtis L. Dean and Joe Louis Dean, both of Meridian; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be today 3 p.m.-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
WALTER HAROLD THOMPSON
Radiology department employee
Services for Walter Harold Thompson will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Travis McManus, Charles Miles and Leslie Aucoin officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson, 58, of Meridian, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Riley Hospital. He was an employee of the radiology department of Riley Hospital and a member of Lakeview Worship Center, where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Thompson of Meridian; two sons, Michael Thompson and his wife, Pam, of Meridian and Darrell Thompson of Jackson; a brother, Edsel Thompson; six sisters, Frances Robinson, Jewel Tisdale and Hazel Jackson, all of Meridian, Annette Harmon of Waynesboro, Willodean Hines of Meridian and Dorathy Hildreth of Macon, Ga.; three grandchildren, Tyler, Ben and Will Thompson; and his mother-in-law, Rosa Wells of Meridian.
