A tanker truck hauling about 8,600 gallons of gasoline flipped over on the Highway 45 exit ramp off Interstate 20/59 in Meridian at 5 p.m. on Monday.
The driver, who police would not identify, was transported to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center with injuries.
Meridian firefighters, Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency workers and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality officials responded to the accident. The tanker leaked some gasoline before DEQ officials could pump fuel out of the tanker. LEMA Director Clarence Butler, said the situation was very dangerous.
