Few changes in standings after second
tourney week

The second weekend of the 55th Annual Mississippi State Bowling Tournament is now in the books.
The weekend went well with 42 teams, 93 doubles and 186 singles competing at Dixie Bowl Lanes. A total of 77 teams, 178 doubles and 356 singles have competed in the first two weeks of the tournament. Total entries for the tournament are 230 teams, 178 doubles and 356 singles. The tournament will run the next four weekends with the next two weekends expected to be the busiest weekends of the whole tournament.
A few bowlers were able to break the top 10 in each category but the leaders in all of the categories remained the same.
The high game of the weekend was shared by Brian Begue of Hattiesburg and Larry Schindler, Jr. of Corinth. They each bowled a 286 game. Begue bowled his game in the singles event while Schindler's came in doubles competition.
Chad Flemming of McComb bowled a 759 scratch series to take the high series of the weekend. The 771 handicap series moved him into third place in singles. Marty Daffron bowled a 756 handicap series (651 scratch) to take over fourth place in singles. There are no bowlers from Meridian in the top 10 after the first two weekends.
Ray Vaughn and Allen Jackson of Clarksdale bowled a 1460 to move into third place in the doubles competition. Ronnie Thomas and Allen Topcik are still the highest local duo. Their 1435 is good enough for fifth place after the first two weekends. Marcus Fairley and Andrew Clayton of Meridian took over seventh place with a 1422.
There were four new teams able to break into the top 10 in the Team event. Billy Mitchell Parts of Clarksdale bowled a 3363 to take over fourth place. The local team Remember When moved into sixth with a 3340. Don Waldron, C.O. Gray, C.W. "Shine" Gray, D.D. Hawkins and Copeland made up the team.
The All-Events totals from the first two weekends are all added up. All-Events is a total of the first set of scores in each event.
Charlie Hufford of Oxford leads the All-Events Scratch with a 2074 while Chris Tedford of Columbus leads All-Event Handicap with a 2128.
