Angero makes ace at Northwood
Dan Angero made a hole-in-one on No. 7 at Northwood this past weekend.
Angero used a nine-iron on the 160-yard hole. Witnessing the shot was his playing group of Ed Broome, Ben Mcleod, Guru Taylor and Doyle Bryan.

Former MCC player takes honor
Former Meridian Community College baseball standout and current Southern University player Antoin Gray was named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference 2002 All-Tournament Baseball Team.
Also making the team were first baseman Jacobi Frank of Grambling State, second baseman Rickie Weeks of Southern, shortstop Fernando Puebla of Southern, catcher Joey Mouton of Southern, outfielder Robert Felton of Jackson State, outfielder Damon Burns of Texas Southern, outfielder Fred Lewis of Southern and designated hitter David Bell of Texas Southern.
Pitchers making the team were Anthony Pearson of Jackson State, Eric Thomas of Southern, Micah Brown of Jackson State and Josef Rankin of Southern.
Puebla was named the defensive player of the conference while Rankin was named outstanding pitcher. Weeks was named outstanding hitter as well as outstanding player of the conference.

MHS places fourth at South State meet
The Meridian High School boys track and field team placed fourth at the South State 5A Meet in Gulfport on Saturday. Meridian finished with 52 points to rank fourth out of the 16 teams in the event at Gulfport High School.
The Wildcats qualified four individuals for the State Track and Field Meet on May 11 at Hughes Field in Jackson.
Senior Jeremy Alford led the way qualfying in all three of his distance events. Alford was second at South State in the 800 and 1,600 meter runs. He also finished third in the 3,200 meters.
Junior Peter Davidson was second in the 3,200 meters, third in the 1,600 meters and fourth in the 800 meter run.
Sean Roberts was third in the 300 meter hurdles. Quarius Hodges was fourth in the shotput.
On the girls side, Regina Williams and Ashley Curry won South State titles in the field events. Amelia Hudson qualified in the 400 meter dash as did two Lady Wildcat relay teams in the 800 and 1,600 meters.
Williams won the South 5A girls high jump. She won with a leap of 5-feet. Curry continued her dominance in the shot-put with a heave of 36-feet-9. She is ranked first in the state of all female competitors in the shotput.
