Clarkdale's Spring Fling set to start Friday

The area's biggest high school fast-pitch softball tournament is scheduled for this weekend at Northeast Park as 21 teams from two states are slated to play in the eighth annual Clarkdale Spring Fling.
Action gets under way at 4 p.m. Friday with Clarkdale taking on Northwest Rankin and concludes with Saturday's 7 p.m. contest between Enterprise and Poplarville.
In Pool 1 are Clarkdale, Clinton, Gautier, Grenada, Northwest Rankin, and Tuscaloosa County, Ala. In Pool 2 are Enterprise, Union, Poplarville, New Hope, and Ocean Springs. In Pool 3 are Newton County, Neshoba Central, Kosciusko, Mooreville, and Moss Point. In Pool 4 are Pascagoula, Terry, Harrison Central, East Central, and Demopolis, Ala.
There will be no overall champion. The winner of each pool will get a championship trophy. Each team is assured of four games.
Roberson listed the traditional powers as being Pascagoula, Clinton, Harrison Central, East Central, and Demopolis.
