The celebration and blessing of the marriage of Peyton Palmer Long and Burnell Flowers Hutchinson took place on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Meridian. Dr. David Wood and the Rev. John Hutchinson, uncle of the bridegroom, officiated the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Erst Long III of Meridian, and Dr. and Mrs. Clyde Maxwell Hutchinson of Tupelo.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Milton Palmer of Houston, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Erst Long Jr. of Corinth.
The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Burnell Flowers of West Point, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dudley Hutchinson of Columbus.
Nuptial music was provided by Susie Long Marshall, aunt of the bride, organist; and Fran Hutchinson Keenan, sister of the bridegroom, soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a couture gown originally worn by her mother. The elegant gown of ivory silk organza featured a scooped neckline and fitted bodice of Alencon lace embellished with seed pearls and crystals.
The elbow-length sleeves of silk illusion were trimmed with matching lace. The full organza skirt adorned with a large spray of lace traced with pearls and crystals flowed into a cathedral length train. Her heirloom veil of silk illusion featured a fingertip-length of illusion edged with Alencon lace. The bride wore a diamond pendant that had belonged to the bridegroom's grandmother.
Meredith Ryan Long attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Missy Brewer Carruth of Hattiesburg, Stephanie Dove of Alexandria, Va., Francine Purdy Farrar of Memphis, Tenn., Stacy Koon of Charlotte, N.C, Laura Kate Long of Corinth, Emily Mitchell of Charlotte, Whitney Boone Reece of Hickory, N.C., Margaret Smith of Gulfport and Melissa Kahlstorf Sutherland of Oxford.
Hannah and Madeline Harrison of Jackson, nieces of the bridegroom were flower girls.
Special attendant to the bride was Ellen Brinkley of Atlanta. Program attendants were Jaime Purdy and Michelle Ray, both of Meridian.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen included A.J. Cochet of Oxford, Clint Farrar of Clinton, Adam Pennabaker of Meridian, Conner Collins, Michael Hamilton, Chad Iverson, Matt Leathers, Clay Scruggs and Andy Williamson, all of Tupelo.
Davis, Hudson and Miles Roy of Tupelo, nephews of the bridegroom, were ring bearers.
Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at Northwood Country Club. Music was provided by "The Connection."
On the eve of the wedding, the parent's of the bridegroom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Northwood Country Club.
After a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Oxford.
