Delta State
CLEVELAND The battle to see who will backup starting quarterback Josh Bright started taking shape during Delta State University's third day of summer practice here Wednesday afternoon.
First-year offensive coordinator Cody Gross is pleased with the progress of the three quarterback battle. Chad Blalack and Brian Bell are the most experienced of the quarterbacks, having taken the majority of snaps during spring drills with the Statesmen. True freshman Spencer Johnson from Kentucky has also made good progress to push into the mix.
The three quarterbacks have been going head-to-head and Gross feels that it is too early to decide who will be second and third team.
Delta State head coach Steve Campbell is happy with the overall practices so far.
Delta State will scrimmage this Saturday afternoon at Parker Field. Kickoff is slated for 3:30.
