Fall league meetings starting soon

By By M.A. Copeland/Special to The Star
Aug. 7, 2001
With schools starting in another week, that means the league bowling meetings will be taking place starting August 13-17 at 6 p.m. each night at Dixie Bowl.
The leagues will be starting to bowl the next week. So make plans to come to one of the meetings. If you're not on a team, we'll get you on one.
We have openings for bowlers and teams almost every night. Come join a league and you'll see how much fun league bowling can be. We would love to have you.
Give us a call at 483-2283 if you have any questions. We'll do our best to answer them.
Youth league
The youth league meeting and sign up will be Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 4 p.m. The league will start Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. The Saturday youth league will meet Saturday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. and will start bowling Sept. 8.
Get a friend and come join the league and learn a lot about the game of bowling. It is a great sport to do by yourself or with a group. Ask your youth leader at your church to set up a bowling trip for your church at Dixie Bowl. You'll see what fun it really is.
Upcoming
Moving on, we would like for you to make plans to bowl in the Labor Day Doubles Tournament that will be held at Dixie Bowl Labor Day weekend.
It runs Saturday 10 a.m. until 1 pm and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with squads at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday. We have $1000 first place guaranteed with a 1 in 8 pay out. It's a $30 entry fee. You may bowl with two other people on the same squad for $25 each: 90% of 210 for ladies and 80% of 210 men. High game brackets also. Come join us for some great bowling and fun.
In the Trio League, Greg Taylor had a 255/672 and Sue Kirkpatrick had a 238/592. In Ball &Chain, Stan Bottorff had a 266/708. For the ladies, Billie Coleman had a 201 and Sheila Dearman had a 561.
