Baseball
MSU Baseball Camps: for high schoolers will be held July 15-19 and a hitter's camp July 13-15 at Dudy Noble Field. For additional information, contact the MSU Baseball Office at 662-325-3597.
John Moss Fall Baseball: registration for ages 14-17 is going on now until Aug. 18. Registration forms may be picked up at Judge Little. The $35 registration fee is due upon sign-up. Games will be played on Monday and Tuesday night beginning Aug. 27 thru Oct. 30. For more information, contact Johnny Warren at 482-0778.
Cheerleading
ECCC Camp: The East Central Community College cheerleaders will sponsor their cheerleader camp July 9-11. Junior high school and high school squads may attend. The camp will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Cost is $60 per cheerleader. Lunch will be provided. Football
ECCC 7-on-7 Team Passing Camp: will be held July 12 on the Warrior football field. Cost is $15 per player, which includes insurance, lunch and camp t-shirt. Participants should provide their own football, shorts, t-shirts, cleats, etc. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. For more information, contact ECCC head football coach Terry Underwood at 635-2111 or 1-877-462-3222 ext. 244 or 310.
Officiating
Public high school: softball and football officials are required to attend a registration and pay dues for the upcoming season at a meeting July 9 at the Russ Collins Vo-tech Center. The softball meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., while the football meeting is 6:30 p.m. Former officials and anyone interested in officiating are urged to attend. Soccer
Meridian Community College: will conduct summer soccer camp July 9-12 for boys and girls ages 4-18 and a resident camp July 13-16. For more information, contact MCC coach Steve Clements at 484-8697.
The Meridian Girls: U-17 select soccer team tryouts will be held July 12 at 6 p.m. and July 14 at 8 a.m. at the Northeast Park Soccer fields. For more information, contact Harold Harris at 693-0272 (office) or 483-0883 (home).
MYSO Fall Registration: The Meridian Youth Soccer Organization is holding fall registration July 1 through Aug. 15 for boys and girls ages 4-18. Registration forms may be picked up at Mr. Rodger's Donuts. For more information, contact Bruce Reau at 581-3023.
Softball
Fast-pitch Clinic/League: There will be a girls' fast-pitch softball instructional league and clinic put on by the North Meridian Optimist Girls Softball Organization beginning July 9. All interested girls who were age 9, 10, 11 or 12 on Jan. 1, 2001 are eligible to play. League will play for 2-3 weeks as time permits. Registration is July 8 from 1-4 p.m. at the Northeast Softball Complex. Registration fee is $10 per player. For more information, contact Leslie Hull at 693-0033 or Rick Roberson at 482-4691.
Southeast Athletic Boosters: Softball Bash co-ed tournament will be held July 14 at the Southeast Lauderdale High School baseball field. Entry fee is $100. Trophies will be awarded for first thru third place. For more information, contact Ryan Miller at 485-3878.
USSSA Class D: State tournament will be held Aug. 11 at the Laurel Sportsplex. USSSA Core 47 Worth balls will be used only. For more information, call Larry Green at 601-428-8851.
Swimming
Meridian Swim Association: is offering Meridian Swim School for beginner swimmers of all ages. Two weeks sessions beginning July 9 will introduce children to the pool and swimming. Classes are limited to five children per class. Family discounts are available. For more information, call 604-1440 or 693-5496.
Tennis
Meridian Area Tennis Assoc.: will host the Blue Yodeler NTRP Classic July 20-22 at the North East Tennis Center. Entry fee for the adult tournament is $25 for singles and $36 for doubles. For more information, contact Dave Trebisky at 483-3526.
