Meridian Community College women's head basketball coach Hilary Allen is assembling quite an arsenal for the 2001-2002 season.
Earlier in the week, Allen inked one of the greatest girls basketball players in Mississippi history in Southeast Lauderdale's Monique Horner.
He followed that up by signing what perhaps could be considered the most pivotal cog in Meridian High's drive to the 2001 Class 5A runnerup spot in Lady Wildcat post player Cantea Brown.
Brown, a 6-1 senior forward/center, led Donald Shirley's Lady Wildcats by averaging 16.1 points and 14.2 rebounds this past season.
Allen's Lady Eagles finished the season with a 26-5 record, the Miss-Lou Conference title and a trip to the Region 23 Tournament.
They did so, in part by leading the nation in scoring and Allen feels Brown can continue to fuel the Lady Eagle offense.
Brown and Horner join an MCC roster that already has local talent. Former MHS standout Tijwana Collins and Eva Lockhart from West Lauderdale will be sophomores next season.
