OBITUARIES FOR WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28, 2001

BERTHA KATHLEEN CLARK

PHILADELPHIA Services for Bertha Kathleen Clark will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Lampkin and Randy Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clark, 90, of Preston, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Verlin Cook of Jackson; two sons, Wayne Clark of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donald Clark of Jackson; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Clark.
Visitation will be today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
DELOIS A. PETERMAN

Services for Delois A. Peterman will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Meadows and Douglas Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Peterman, 66, of Meridian, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Addison E. "Sonny" Peterman of Meridian; three daughters, Theresa Partridge McGowin of Connellsville, Pa., Lynn Gentry and her husband, Richard, of Prattville, Ala. and Dr. Mary Beth Karafty of Connellsville; five sons, David Thrash, Kim McGowin, Kenneth McGowin and Ronald McGowin, all of Meridian, and Keith McGowin of Brewton, Ala.; four brothers, Aubrey Thrash, Ed Thrash, Alton Thrash and Austin Thrash, all of Meridian; a sister, Gladys Sims of Laurel; 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Jerald Partridge, Brian Gentry, Joseph Kim McGowin Jr., M.D., Kenny McGowin, Wesley Thrash and Joshua Thrash.
Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
SARA SIMMONS STAMPER

NEWTON Services for Sara Simmons Stamper will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Everett officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Stamper, 80, of Marion formerly of Lawrence, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Milton Stamper of Lauderdale and Ronnie Stamper of Magnolia, Texas; a daughter, Ann Tyler of Lauderdale; three sisters, Geraldine Williams of Meridian, Eleanor Treat of St. Louis and Merle Brooks of Gulfport; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Marion Stamper.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
ESTELLA LYNCH
Services for Estella Lynch will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Cryer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Enterprise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lynch, 75, of Meridian, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include her mother, Willie C. Lynch, six daughters, Gladys Marie Lynch, Nonie Hall, Barbara Reed, Marylin Lynch, Zellar Anderson and Avis McNeil, all of Meridian; three sons, Robert Charles Lynch, Nathaniel Lynch Pringle and Edward Lynch, all of Meridian; 36 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
CURTIS KNIGHTEN
Retired
Services for Curtis Knighten will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Advil McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Knighten, 78, of Quitman, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Lakeside Living Center.
Survivors include a sister, Hazel Currie and a brother, Leonard Knighten, both of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Quitman.
BOOKER T. THEDFORD
Retired
Services for Booker T. Thedford will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tamola United Methodist Church in Lauderdale with the Rev. Charles Wash officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Thedford, 89, of Lauderdale, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include four daughters, Minister Annie B. Grace and Mattie Gully, both of Meridian, Irene Hopson of Lauderdale and Elouise Harvey of Sandusky, Ohio; two sons, Johnny Smith Thedford and Columbus Thedford, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa; 45 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Retha M. Hamilton, 94, of Shubuta, who died Monday, March 26, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medial Center.
