The Mississippi Highway Patrol will continue an investigation today into a traffic accident early Sunday morning that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Florence man.
Sgt. Ronnie Carter said Owen Brown of 1393 Highway 49 was killed when the 1994 Chevrolet he was driving ran off Interstate 20, about 4 miles west of Newton.
Brown was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 6:30 a.m., Carter said.
Carter said Trooper Gary Seale will be back on the scene today to continue the investigation.
Brown's death marks the ninth fatality in eight car accidents on MHP-patrolled roads in Newton County this year.
