Lady Tigers compete in Gulf Shores

The Russellville Lady Tiger softball team traveled to Gulf Shores to compete in the Gulf Shores Classic during spring break.

The Lady Tigers took on Cordova in their first game on March 24 and the Tigers’ fell 12-0.

Rachel Hunter pitched and went 2-2 on offense. Other offensive leaders were Sydney Burcham, who went 2-2, and Ally Willis who went 1-1.

Russellville faced Oneonta in their second game and won 8-2. Casey Brandenburg was the winning pitcher. Brandenburg only allowed four hits. Tristan Thomas led the Tigers’ offensively with a hit, scoring two runs. Lexi Lamon went 3-3 with an RBI. Jess Guzman, Brooke Borden, Kourtney Joyner, and Madelyn Price all had RBI’s.

Game three was lost to Pleasant Valley, 4-0. Jakari Suggs pitched for the Tigers, getting two strikeouts and only allowing four hits. Lexi Lamon, Rachel Hunter, Kylynn Channell, and Madison Lamon all had hits for Russellville.

The fourth game was played on March 25 against Hazel Green. The Tigers’ pulled out a 6-2 win with Rachel Hunter pitching and only allowing three hits. Tristan Thomas, Sydney Burcham, and Brooke Borden all had RBI’s for the Tigers’. Ally Willis went 2-2 along with Megan Brockway and Lily Holt having one hit each.

Game five was against Gadsden City. The Tigers’ won 7-1 with Casey Brandenburg pitching and picking up three strikeouts. Sydney Burcham and Megan Brockway each had two RBI’s along with Rachel Hunter who had a two-run homerun. Amber Howard, Tristan Thomas, and Lily Holt all had hits.

The last game was played on March 26 against Smith Station. The Lady Tigers’ lost 5-0, with Rachel Hunter being the only hit.

Overall the Lady Tigers’ went 3-3 in the classic. They travel to Athens Thursday night for their third area game.
