Color guard hosting first ever Mistletoe Market

Mistletoe-Market

For those frazzled holiday shoppers who are still looking for the perfect Christmas gifts, the Russellville High School Color Guard is hosting an event at the end of the month that will allow shoppers to choose from a wide range of gifts all in one place.

The first ever Mistletoe Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the band room in the RHS Fine Arts Building on the Russellville High School campus.

The event will feature vendors selling a wide range of products from embroidery to jewelry to arts and crafts.

Color guard sponsor Mitzi McNutt said she and Jennifer Willis were discussing new fundraising ideas for the color guard when the idea of a Christmas bazaar came up.

“Jennifer is a marketing major and she had heard of other people having Christmas bazaars, and we though we could do something similar to that,” McNutt said.

The event is also being held on what is known as “Small Business Saturday,” which is a follow-up to the highly commercialized Black Friday sales at most major stores.

The purpose of Small Business Saturday is to support small, local businesses that sometimes get the short end of the stick with so many major stores putting on Black Friday sales.

“We have a wide variety of vendors coming to the market, and almost all of them are local,” McNutt said.

“When we decided to have this, we knew we wanted to support local people and their businesses because the local community has always been so supportive of [the Marching Hundred] and the things that we do throughout the year.

“Small Business Saturday just seemed like the perfect time to have an event like this.”

McNutt said the list of vendors coming to the Mistletoe Market includes: BeautiControl; Paparazzi $5 Accessories by Bridget and Nell; Crafty Shack; Origami Owl; Something to Talk About; Sassafras Designs; This and That Unique Finds; Mary Kay; Thirty-One; Southern Elegance; Premier Designs Jewelry; Initial Outfitters by Kristi; Artistic Jewelry and Repair; Lil’ Bitts’ Children’s Apparel & Gifts; Jessica Peppers-artist; S.A.R. Creations; Scentsy; Grace Adele; Velatta; Rooted in the South; Little Miss Missy’s Boutique & Toys; aRo Art & Design; Singing River Antiques and Gifts; and more.

Door prizes will also be given away at the event.
