Heat advisory for the Shoals starts Wednesday afternoon
FLORENCE — The Tennessee Valley Area, including the Shoals, will be under a heat advisory starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Friday.
Heat index values are expected to be up to 107 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
Wednesday afternoon temperatures in the Shoals area are expected to be near 94 with a heat index value up to 105 degrees.
The temperatures are expected to rise through the rest of the week, heading into Monday.
The weather service suggests drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check on relative and neighbors.
When outside, the weather service suggests people wear lightweight and loose clothing and to try to limit strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.
