Attempted murder is added to shooting charges

RUSSELLVILLE — A Tuscumbia man now faces an attempted murder charge in addition to the 23 other criminal charges he faces after admitting to shooting into a house June 5.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Palmer said 36-year-old James Dennis Logan was charged with attempted murder June 10 upon further investigation of the shooting incident off County Road 60.

Palmer said Logan admitted to the drive-by shooting at a residence where one of the people there was a woman he had been romantically involved with.

Palmer said Logan used a handgun to shoot into a residence and a vehicle parked in the driveway leading up to the residence. One of the rounds struck the house, and another struck the vehicle, but no one was injured.

The handgun was later located and taken into evidence, according to Palmer.

Logan was initially charged with 11 counts of reckless endangerment, eight counts of menacing, two counts of shooting into an occupied building, and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Palmer said the shooting was reported to deputies around 5 p.m. June 5. Logan was found and taken into custody on Colby Lane a short time later.

Logan also had a warrant for his arrest on one charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
