PC sweeps Colbert County
The Phil Campbell Bobcats got their area games off to a great start with an easy sweep of the Colbert County Indians. The Bobcats beat the Indians 11-1, 18-3, and 13-0.
In game one, the Bobcats sent ace Isaac Duboise to the mound. Duboise allowed just four hits and one run, struck out eight, and walked just two batters.
The Bobcats scored 11 runs on 13 hits. Senior Hagen Raper led the charge with two singles and a triple, four RBIs and he scored twice. Freshman Jack Owens had two singles and a double and scored twice. Chandler Benford doubled for the Bobcats.
Games two and three were at Colbert County. The Indians led game two 3-0 through four innings. The Bobcats took a 5-3 three lead in the top of the fifth and blew the top off the game with a 13-run sixth inning.
Phil Campbell’s 18 runs came on 14 hits led by Shooter Motes, who went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and scored a run. Miles Duboise also went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and he scored twice. Reed Jackson had two singles and two RBIs. Benford and Raper scored three runs each. Owens and Bentley Morgan scored two runs each.
Sage Morgan slides into home safely.
Owens got the win in relief of Benford, who struggled early. Owens shut down the Indians allowing no runs on two hits while striking out 10.
In game three, Phil Campbell scored 13 runs on 11 hits. Motes doubled twice. Raper also doubled. Cody Sneed and Jackson tripled.
Sage Morgan got the win on the mound.
