3 from Vina face drug charge

VINA — Three people are facing a drug trafficking charge after members of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office found 35 grams of crystal and liquid methamphetamines in a shed on the 6400 block of Alabama Highway 24, just north of Vina.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Kyle Palmer said their office received a tip Thursday that Haze Weatherford, 23, was living in the shed and had drugs inside the shed.

After getting a search warrant, members of the sheriff’s office arrived on the scene and found Weatherford and two other people inside the shed, including a juvenile.

Palmer said deputies found meth in the crystal and liquid form inside the shed along with various drug paraphernalia from bong to pipes and baggies.

Weatherford was arrested and charged with one count of drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Palmer said the 17-yearold juvenile will also be charged with one count of drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Palmer said the juvenile has been released into his parent’s custody.

The other person, Natalia Maldonado, 20, of Red Bay was found to have a grand jury indictment, charging her with four counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, Palmer said.

She was arrested on the indictment along with being charged with one count of drug trafficking and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Maldonado and Weatherford are currently being held in the Franklin County Jail on $100,000 bonds, according to jail records.
