RHS girls golf chipping in

To say Chris Boatwright is excited about coaching this year’s Russellville High School girls golf team would be a bit of an understatement.

While his team is relatively young with only one senior on the roster, Boatwright said the youth and drive he’s seen from his players already this year has him extremely optimistic for what’s ahead.

“I’m excited because this group has veterans that have been here and have played in sectionals and faced some really good competition already,” Boatwright said. “I’m really excited to see where we stack up locally before we get into our tournaments.”

This year’s team members are Aidyn Marshall, Allanah Smith, Charlsie Mills, Collins Odom, Callie Odom, Maci Jackson, Darby Pinkard and Lily Rogers.

Collins Odom will be the team’s number one starter and she started the 2026 season off strong, shooting a 49 playing against Phil Campbell and Belgreen.

Callie Odom, who is Collins’ sister, will be in the second spot and has shot a 52 and 53 in her first two matches this year.

As the lone senior, Marshall has also put up a strong outing right out of the gate, as she shot a 58 in both of her matches.

What impressed Boatwright the most early on, he said, has been the work ethic his players have brought with them each and every day.

Overall, Boatwright said he believes his players will be ready to compete against every team, regardless of who they match up with. His goal is for the team to be competing for a state title.

“My expectations for this season are to help our girls shoot low scores by shaving off strokes around the greens,” Boatwright said. “We have some really good golfers in our group and learning how to put together the whole package from tee to hole is our plan.”
