RHS baseball team goes 1-3 for the week
The Russellville Golden Tigers got a win over Hamilton in baseball action last week, but fell to Florence, James Clemens and Hazel Green.
RHS hosted the Florence Falcons on March 10 and lost 7-5. The two teams were tied 5-5 going into the seventh inning when FHS scored twice.
Russellville’s Ty Engelthaler had a double and a single. Caleb Hawkins and Brayden Hatton added two hits each while Malaki Groce had one hit.
Russellville RBIs were from Hawkins, Hatton and Peyton Scofield.
Hawkins, Houston Askew and Johnce Knight pitched for RHS.
The Hamilton Aggies visited Russellville on March 12 and the Golden Tigers earned a 9-1 victory. RHS had 11 hits while holding Hamilton to two.
Caleb Hawkins hit two home runs and collected three RBIs during a 3-for-3 performance that included a single. Hawkins also walked one time. Jackson Smith added a home run for RHS. He had two hits and three RBIs while Bryson Cooper hit two singles and had one RBI.
Keifer Hallmark and Hatton added doubles while Engelthaler and Askew also hit safely. Additional Russellville RBIs were by Tristan Ray and Askew.
Smith also pitched a complete game for the win. The lone Hamilton run was unearned. Smith struck out six Aggies and walked none.
Russellville had the opportunity to play two games at Toyota Field in Madison on March 14, but the Golden Tigers lost both contests to fall to 3-12 on the season.
First, RHS lost to James Clemens High School 4-3 when the Jets scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hawkins, Hatton and Smith had two hits each for the game while Engelthaler, Askew and Hallmark added one hit apiece. Askew had the only Russellville RBI. Tripp Cleveland, Hatton, Askew and Gavin Willis were the RHS pitchers.
Hazel Green pitched a no-hitter and defeated Russellville 15-0 in the second game of the day at Toyota Field. The Trojans scored two runs in the second inning, six in the fifth and seven in the seventh.
