Red Bay softball is 2-1
Charlie Lindley struck out 12 batters to led the Red Bay Tigers past the Tremont Eagles 6-4 on Thursday. Lindley gave up five hits and four runs over seven innings while walking seven.
Red Bay added one run in the second. Lilly Lesley grounded out, making the score 2-0.
The Tigers captured the lead, 6-4, in the top of the sixth after Lindley doubled to centerfield, Lesley grounded out, and Mikayela Jackson walked, each scoring one run.
Gracie Edgmon, Jackson, Kyla Blackburn, Lindley, Lexia Medina, and Bella Blackburn each collected one hit for Red Bay. Jackson, Lindley, Lesley, and Blackburn each drove in one run for the Tigers. Edgmon stole two bases.
Red Bay shut out the Phillips Bears 3-0 in their second game of the season. Hadley Griffin started the game for Red Bay and recorded 12 outs.
A ground out by Jackson put the Tigers on the board in the bottom of the first.
Red Bay padded its early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Jackson grounded out, and Phillips committed an error, each scoring one run.
Griffin earned the win for Red Bay. The pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking four.
Edgmon and Blackburn were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Red Bay. Jackson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Tigers with two runs batted in. Makenna Young stole two bases.
Red Bay lost to Hackleburg 3-2 for their only loss of the week.
