PC tops Meek, 12-2

The Phil Campbell won big over the Meek Tigers 12-2 on Saturday for its first win following two losses to open the baseball season.

Phil Campbell got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jack Owens singled to center field, and Meek committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Bobcats scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the second inning.

Eli Tyra earned the win for Phil Campbell. The starter allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Cody Sneed pitched one inning of scoreless ball in relief. He allowed no hits, striking out one and walking none.

Phil Campbell amassed 10 hits in the game. Sneed led the Bobcats with three runs batted in. The righthanded hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Duboise led Phil Campbell with three hits in four at bats. Owens collected two hits for the Bobcats in three at bats. Owens and Hagen Raper each recorded steals in the game as Phil Campbell ran wild on the base paths, piling up 11 stolen bases for the game.

Owens went 3-for-4 with double and RBI in a 7-4 loss to Hackleburg on Saturday. Chandler Benford also had two hits and an RBI.

Isaac Duboise and a hit and an RBI in a 3-1 loss on Friday night Dora 9, Belgreen 4 The Belgreen Bulldogs could not hold onto the lead against Dora on Friday night and fell 9-4 despite leading by four at one point.

Belgreen lost despite out-hitting Dora seven to five. Ty Hamilton led the Bulldogs with two hits.

Belgreen was first to get on the board in the first when Hamilton singled, scoring one run.

The Bulldogs added one run in the second. Brayden Messer singled down the right field line, making the score 2-0.

A walk by Hamilton extended the Belgreen’s lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.

Dora flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-4.
