Bulldogs rout Lexington to get region bid

In a dominant display of postseason basketball, the Belgreen Bulldogs dismantled the Lexington Golden Bears 69-35 in a Class 2A girls subregion clash.

The victory secures Belgreen a spot in the Northwest Regionals at Wallace State Community College, where they faced off against the Sulligent Blue Devils on Tuesday.

Belgreen left little doubt about the outcome from the opening tip. The Bulldogs raced out to a 21-5 lead in the first quarter, fueled by an aggressive transition game and stifling defense. While Lexington managed to find some offensive rhythm in the second frame, Belgreen kept the pressure on, heading into the locker room with a comfortable 40-20 lead.

Any hopes of a Golden Bears comeback were erased in the third quarter. The Bulldogs poured in 23 points while holding Lexington to just five, effectively ending the contest before the final period began.

Randi Terry was the engine of the Belgreen offense all night. Terry finished with a game-high 19 points, showing remarkable consistency by scoring seven in the first and six in both the second and third quarters.

She wasn’t alone in double digits, however. Lilliana Willingham and Jemma More each tallied 11 points. Willingham was particularly lethal in the third quarter, where she accounted for eight of the team’s 23 points. And Makenna Fisher added a strong 10 points to the winning effort.

The Bulldogs also saw contributions across the roster with Carson Hovater (6), Mackinley Hogan (5), Alexa Gault (4), Evey Fisher (2), and Isabella Tate (1) contributing.
