RHS competes in tournaments

The Russellville varsity basketball teams took the court for holiday hoops action with the boys finishing up the Bracy Invitational and the girls participating in the West Morgan Holiday Classic.

The Golden Tigers were defeated by the South Lamar Stallions by a 42-38 score in the thirdplace game of the Bracy Invitational held at Deshler High School.

RHS went 1-2 in the event that was won by Deshler.

The Russellville girls opened the West Morgan Holiday Classic with a loss to Mars Hill Bible School by the final score of 71-61. Mars Hill led 42-34 at the half and 56-46 after three quarters of action.

Ella Copeland led Russellville in scoring with 27 points and Laila Hill also scored in double figures with 11. Angleah Smith had eight points, Sadie Odom scored seven, and Blevyn Sappington added six. Bella Malone contributed two points, and Alexia Groce had one point for RHS.

The Lady Golden Tigers came back the next day and earned a 55-42 victory over Wilson to finish up the West Morgan Holiday Classic. The two teams were tied 36-36 after three quarters before RHS finished the game strong to get the win.

Russellville (9-6) got 24 points from Copeland and nine each from Smith and Odom. Laila Hill added eight, Elizabeth Davis scored three, and Malone had two points.
