Belgreen dominates Shoals Christian, 54-8

Belgreen dominated from start to finish in its game against Shoals Christian, beating the Flame 54-8.

Belgreen scored its first touchdown midway through the first quarter on a 10-yard run by Brayden Messer to take a 6-0 lead.

The game was a defensive battle for much of the remainder of the first half. Things began to deteriorate for the Flame late in the first half because of the Bulldogs defense.

Ty Hamilton recovered a Shoals Chrisitan fumble deep in Flame territory, setting up a 13-yard touchdown run by Rush Berryman with 2:54 to go in the first half. That gave Belgreen a 12-0 lead.

Belgreen’s Ben Wilkins intercepted a Shoals Christian pass at midfield with 2:35 to go in the half, and the Bulldogs capitalized by scoring on a 50-yard touchdown pass by Berryman to Ethan Dawson.

Belgreen’s defense stepped up again following the kickoff with a safety by Carlos Alban with 1:33 to go in the half to take a 20-0 lead.

Following Shoals Christians kickoff after the safety, Belgreen added one final score to the board with 58 seconds remaining in the first half on a pass from Berryman to Colton Ashton. The PAT by Angel Morales gave the Bulldogs a 27-0 halftime lead.

Belgreen will host Sumiton Christian Friday night.

Danville 59 Tharptown 0 A.J. Williams scored twice, and Matthew Tidwell had a 91-yard touchdown run as Danville (1-0) blanked Tharptown (0-1) and spoiled the debut of Coach Brian White.
