Allison tapped to lead Lady Bobcats softball

PHIL CAMPBELL — A familiar face will be leading the Phil Campbell High School Lady Bobcats softball program next season.

Darby Allison, a 2007 graduate of PCHS, has been named the new head coach, replacing Jason Lindsey, who led the team for the past two years.

Allison brings a deep-rooted connection to the school and a wealth of coaching experience within Phil Campbell athletics. For the last 13 years, he has been a consistent presence on the sidelines and the diamond, contributing to both football and baseball programs in various capacities.

His coaching resume includes serving as the head junior high football coach and as an assistant varsity baseball coach since 2014.

The decision to take the helm of the softball program was a natural one for Allison.

“What attracted me most to the job is that Phil Campbell is my home,” he said. “I want to see all of our programs be highly competitive and build young people of high character that will be future leaders in whatever they do after school.”

Allison’s academic journey took him from Phil Campbell to Northwest Shoals Community College for two years, culminating in a biology degree from Athens State University in 2012. He furthered his education by earning a master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of North Alabama in 2020, underscoring his commitment to both athletic and academic development.

Looking ahead, Allison has a clear vision for the Lady Bobcats.

“The goal is to create a culture that emphasizes discipline, attitude, competition and relentless effort in every facet of our lives,” he said.
