Area basketball tournaments get started this week

The basketball postseason has arrived with area tournaments beginning this week.

Regular season area champions host the tournaments.

Russellville and Red Bay’s boys will host.

Belgreen’s girls will host.

All others will have to travel.

The winners of each area tournament will host subregion games next week while the area runner-ups will travel to subregion games.

Class 5A Area 15

Teams — Russellville, Lawrence County, West Point Girls at West Point — Russellville girls will host Lawrence County on Friday night. The winner will play at West Point on Monday.

Boys at Russellville –Lawrence County and West Point will play at Russellville on Saturday night. The winner will play at Russellville on Tuesday.

Class 3A Area 15

Teams — Phil Campbell, Colbert Heights, Mars Hill, Sheffield Girls at Mars Hill Phil Campbell will play Sheffield on Friday with the finals at Mars Hill on Tuesday.

Boys at Mars Hill Phil Campbell will play Sheffield on Saturday with the finals at Mars Hill on Tuesday.

Class 2A Area 10

Teams — Red Bay, Lamar County, Sulligent Girls at Sulligent Dates and times not available at press time.

Boys at Red Bay — Dates and times not available at press time.

Class 2A Area 14

Teams — Belgreen, Covenant Christian, Tharptown Tharptown and Covenant Girls and Belgreen and Tharptown boys will play at Covenant on Saturday.

Girls Finals at Belgreen on Monday Boys Finals at Covenant Christian on Tuesday Class 1A Area 15

Teams — Vina, Brilliant, Hackleburg, Marion County, Phillips Girls at Marion County — Vina will play Phillips on Friday. The winner will play on Saturday. The finals are on Tuesday.

Boys at Hackleburg Vina plays on Thursday. The finals are on Wednesday.
