Russellville softball gets wins over Deshler, Mars Hill

The Russellville varsity softball team returned to the field for competition versus three schools following spring break, and the Lady Golden Tigers won two of the games.

RHS (16-11-1) went to Tuscumbia April 1 and defeated the 4A Deshler Tigers by a final score of 6-0.

Jacey Moore started the contest in the pitching circle and struck out 10 batters. The senior allowed one hit and one walk during the complete game victory. The Northwest Shoals Community College signee also helped with the bat by picking up two hits and one RBI.

Addison Holcomb, Bryleigh Butler and Jemma Moore all added two hits each for Russellville. Bryleigh Butler and Jemma Moore had two RBI each and Brooklyn Butler also drove in a run. Ticelee Gholston had the other RHS hit and added a stolen base.

Russellville traveled to Hamilton High School to face the Lady Aggies April 4, and the Lady Golden Tigers fell by a final score of 6-1.

RHS managed two hits and struggled defensively, making five errors. Addison Holcomb hit a seventh inning home run and Gholston had the other hit. Holcomb pitched one inning for RHS before being relieved by Paislee James.

The Lady Golden Tigers got back on the winning track with a 6-0 shutout victory at Mars Hill Bible School April 5.

Moore was on her game again by pitching another complete game. The right-hander struck out 11, walked one and gave up seven hits to the Lady Panthers.

Holcomb continued her hot hitting with another home run. Butler added two hits and three RBI. Paislee James also had two hits while Butler, Khristyan Huerta, Kaylee Suggs and Kristin McGlaughn all had additional singles. Russellville got other RBI from Butler and Huerta.
