Franklin County Schools softball summary

Belgreen, Phil Campbell dominate Phillips

Belgreen beat Phillips 15-0 early in the day on a no-hitter by Hannah Borden. Borden also got the job done at the plate with a single, double, three RBI and two runs scored.

Every player that went to the plate for the Bulldogs got a hit.

Mackinley Hogan had two hits, two RBI and scored a run. Morgan Vandiver had a single, double, two RBI and scored a run. Bryn Scott, Caleigh Lawson and Caitlyn Oliver scored two runs each. Shaylyn Bryant and Morgan Lauderdale had two RBI each.

Phil Campbell also shut out the Bears, winning 11-0. Freshman Addie James pitched the shutout, allowing three hits and striking out three.

The Bobcats racked up several extra base hits led by senior Macey Welborn with her first career home run.
Sidda Rogers tripled while Phil Campbell got doubles from James, Brittney Coffman, Chaley Bullington and Shiloh Madden.

Red Bay beats Tharptown, Vina

The Red Bay Tigers picked up two wins last week against county opponents, beating Tharptown 9-4 and Vina 5-4. An eight-run fourth inning led Red Bay past Tharptown. The Tigers scored nine runs on 10 hits. Jazmyn Pearson had three hits, including a double, three RBI and scored three times. Journee Swann had a two-run triple.

Hannah Butler was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs and striking out six. Red Bay and Vina battled back and forth before the Tigers prevailed 5-4. The game was tied 2-2 after the first inning and 4-4 after the second inning. The Tigers broke the tie for good with a run in the top of the fourth. Swann hit a two-run home run to lead the way for Red Bay. Pearson had two hits, a RBI and scored a run. Butler was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs.

Vina softball picks up trio of wins

The Vina softball team picked up three wins last week. The Red Devils beat Belgreen 6-0, Covenant Christian 9-8 and Addison 7-4.

Vina shutout the Belgreen Bulldogs 6-0 despite being outhit 7-6. The Red Devils got two runs each from Kenzie Elrod and Aimee Shotts. AC Chandler had a single, double and three RBIs. Shotts got the shutout in the circle.

Vina beat Covenant Christian 9-8 despite giving up 22 hits to the Eagles. Chandler had two hits and three RBI. Claire McCarley had three hits and an RBI. Braxtyn Quinn had two RBI. Elrod and Shotts scored two runs each.

Vina beat Addison 7-4. The Red Devils got three RBI from Chandler and two runs each from Shots and Lana Bell.
