Belgreen gets wins over Tharptown, Hackleburg

Belgreen gets wins over Tharptown, Hackleburg

The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs picked up two wins last week, beating Tharptown 61-41, and Hackleburg 41-24.

Against rival Tharptown, Belgreen put the game away early, racing out to a 27-5 first quarter lead and ostensibly putting the game away by halftime, leading 40-16.

Alayana Tate led the Bulldogs with 10 points. Morgan Lauderdale followed with nine points and Lily Green with seven points. Lilliana Willingham, Bryn Scott and Makenna Fisher scored six points each. Isabella Tate and Dacota Green added four points each. Mckinley Hogan finished with three points.

Tharptown eighth grader Angeleah Smith led all scorers with 16 points. Alyssa Fischer added seven points, Alyssa Abbott six points and Harleigh Borden four points. Lizzy Duncan, Ashley Vela, Abby Wilson and Aaliviah Wilson scored two points each.

In Belgreen’s win over Hackleburg, Green led with 15 points.

Belgreen dominated the first quarter, leading Hackleburg 12-2, and led 18-10 at the half. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 27-17 at the end of the third quarter.

Fisher followed Green with eight points, Willingham six points, Lily Green five points, Scott five points and Isabella Tate two points.

The Belgreen varsity boys improved to 6-3 with a 46-32 win over Hackleburg.

Belgreen led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the Panthers battled back to take the lead at halftime, 18-17.

The Bulldogs dominated the third quarter outscoring Hackleburg 16-4 to take a 33-22 lead.

Senior Will King led Belgreen with 19 points followed by Braycen Johnson with 10 points. Jonathan Mendoza added seven points, Hunter Woodruff six points, and Aaron Rubido with four points.
