Chamber names watermelon winners

After a full weekend of festivities, another Franklin County Watermelon Festival is in the books. From vendors and craftsmen, to the car show and contests, live music and more, the festival boasted something for everyone – including watermelon contests. Here are the winners:

Best Dressed
– First place – Damaris Bonilla
– Second place – Aymar Bonilla
– Third place – Mary Jane McDill

Best Tasting
– First place – Tony Hudson
– Second place – Maria King
– Third place – Josh Vigliette

Largest Melon
– First place – Billy Roberts (193 pounds)
– Second place – Blake Roberts  (165 pounds)

Largest Franklin County Melon
– First place – Rhett Jackson (106 pounds)
– Second place – Steven Jackson (100 pounds)

Adult Seed Spitting
– First place – Joel Davis (23 feet, 3 inches)
– Second place – Damaris Bonilla (23 feet)
– Third place – Kevin Strickland (21 feet, 7 inches)

Youth Seed Spitting
– First place – Zedaki Wilson (18 feet)
– Second place – Xander Cantrell (13 feet, 4 inches)
– Third place – Aaliyah Francisco (12 feet, 7 inches)
