Phil Campbell 12U All-Stars one win from state title

The 12U Dixie Youth All-Stars are proving their metal on the statewide stage winning three of their first four games on their way to a possible state championship.

Phil Campbell defeated Ariton 8-3 in the semifinals on Monday and will play in the finals on Tuesday at 3 p.m. One win and the youngsters are champions. They must be beaten twice to finish as runner up.

Kruz Cochran was dominant on the mound, striking out 14 Ariton batters. Ty Hamilton closed out the game on a strike out and a ground out.

Hamilton and Cochran also got work done at the plate. Hamilton had two hits, including a solo home run. Cochran also recorded a home run.

Miles Duboise had a hit, sacrifice fly and two RBIs. Titus Nix had a hit and scored a run. Jacob Potter had a hit and scored a run. Eli Baker had a hit and scored a run. 

In game one, Phil Campbell beat South Dale 15-4 to advance to the semifinals.
Cochran was the winning pitcher going just three innings and striking out all nine batters he faced. Baker and Hamilton closed out the game on the mound.

Phil Campbell was hitting bombs at the plate with three two-run home runs by Hamilton, Noah Miller and Baker.

In game two, Phil Campbell beat Winfield 11-7 to advance to the championship game of the winners bracket.

Baker picked up the win with two innings in relief of Hamilton who started the game. Cochran also pitched two innings from the mound.

Max Robinson smoked a grand slam home run to highlight the game for Phil Campbell. Baker had two hits and scored a run. Jack Owens had a hit and scored a run. Titus Nix had a hit. Hamilton walked twice and scored twice. Duboise walked and knocked in a run. Cochran had a hit and scored a run.
