CONTRIBUTED - The Russellville varsity cheerleaders recently attended the UCA Cheer Camp held at the University of Alabama.

The Golden Tigers were among a large number of talented teams during competition at the multiple-day camp, and the RHS squad took first place honors in camp dance and cheer.
Russellville finished in second place in the sideline category, and the group earned the impressive award of being named overall game day champions. Russellville’s varsity cheerleading squad is led by head coach Kaylee Brannon.
A group of Golden Tigers took home individual awards at the UCA Camp in Tuscaloosa. The Universal Cheerleaders Association, founded in 1974, according to their website, is the largest cheerleading camp company in the world.
UCA trains more than 180,000 cheerleaders every summer at more than 3,200 sessions across the country. Caylin Pinkard and Lily Cate Pace both received Pin It Forward awards.
All-American cheerleaders representing RHS included Pinkard, Chloe Sheffield, Danica Graham, Halle Grimes, Stella Hill, Kinsley Palmer and Maggie Bishop. The 2023-2024 varsity cheerleaders are Maggie Bishop, Ella Colagross, Cara Elliott, Harlee Fisher, Ella Goggans, Danica Graham, Emmy Green, Halle Grimes, Stella Hill, Caitlin McLain, Lily Cate Pace, Kinsley Palmer, Caylin Pinkard, Chloe Sheffield, Lexie Wells and Annie Willis. Jennifer Thrasher, Christa Sanford,
Brandon Prince, Emily Spiller and Jenny Zimmerman represented the University of Alabama on the cheer camp staff. Thrasher is the director of spirit programs and head cheerleading coordinator at UA while Sanford is the assistant coordinator for cheerleading. Prince is a cheerleader squad assistant for the Crimson Tide.
