Carol Adelia Norton Crews

Carol Adelia Norton Crews, 73, of Hixson passed away Jan. 4.

Carol was born in Russellville Jan. 24, 1949. She attended and graduated from Russellville High School, where she was voted as the homecoming queen her senior year. She also attended Northwest Alabama Junior College, where she again was voted homecoming queen.

She married the love of her life, Larry, in 1968. They moved to Biloxi, Miss., where they had their first daughter, Sonna. After moving to Chattanooga in 1978, they welcomed their second daughter, Heather, in 1980.

At this point Larry went to work with TVA, and Carol cared for the two girls at home.

In 1983 she went to work with Fillauer, where she spent her remaining years until her retirement in 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Maedrew Norton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Larry Crews; daughters, Sonna Griffin, Heather Crews and Jasidy Jones; granddaughter, Morgan Jones; brother, Rick (Gena) Norton; and a niece, Nikki Kelly.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home Jan. 7 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Wayne Williams officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Carol’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tenn.
