Belgreen boys defeat Waterloo

BOYS

The Belgreen Bulldogs picked up a win over the Waterloo Cougars this past week 57-27.

Austin James scored 13 points to lead the way for the Bulldogs, followed by Braycen Johnson and Will King with 12 points each.

Belgreen jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter, and the Bulldogs extended their lead to 26-15 at halftime. Belgreen added to the lead in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 14-8 to make their lead 40-23 before cruising to the win with a dominating four quarter.

Ely Mitchell and Alex Guidry added four points each. Zaden Johnson and Jonathan Mendoza scored three points each. Miguel Willingham, Aaron Rubido and Hunter Woodruff added two points each.

Belgreen lost to New Site, Mississippi, 60-30 this past week. Austin James scored 20 of the Bulldogs’ 30 points.

GIRLS

In girls action, Belgreen lost to New Site 70-44. Dacota Green led Belgreen with 19 points, followed by Noelle Willingham with 10 points. Makenna Fisher added nine points, Carson Hovater four points and Bryn Scott two points.

The Bulldogs lost a close one to Waterloo, 43-31. Belgreen trailed in the first half, 27-25, but came back to take a 33-29 lead at the end of the third quarter. Waterloo outscored Belgreen 12-8 in the fourth quarter to squeak out the win.

Green scored 19 points and made four three-pointers to lead Belgreen. She was followed by Willingham with 12 points.
