Home run lifts Tharptown over Phil Campbell

Taylor Cameron led the Tharptown Wildcats at the plate and in the circle to a 3-2 win over Phil Campbell Monday.

In the circle, Cameron went seven innings, struck out 16 Bobcat batters and allowed five hits.

At the plate, Cameron roped a two-run home run in the top of the third inning, scoring Kyndall Morgan. Morgan had reached on an RBI double on the previous at-bat.

Phil Campbell tried to climb back in the game, scoring runs in the bottom of the fourth and sixth inning. The first run came on a solo home run by Emily Duncan. Duncan scored later on a double by Kenner Scott.

Tharptown got two hits each by Morgan, Cameron, Harleigh Borden, Leslie Staggs and Amerie Villalobos.

Phil Campbell’s Duncan went two for four. Emma Ergle struck out 10 but allowed 13 hits.
